Leading business organisation Aberdeen Inspired has urged city centre restaurants to sign up to a new project which will boost customer numbers and showcase the best cuisine in the Granite City.
The first Aberdeen Restaurant Week will run from Thursday, 1 February 2018, to Thursday, 8 February.
It will see participating restaurants create a unique menu for the event with a simple pricing structure which also reflects the inaugural year.
A two-course lunch will be priced at £10 per person and a three-course dinner will cost £20.18 per person.
The initiative has been launched by Aberdeen Inspired to encourage visitors and residents to support city centre restaurants during what is traditionally a quiet period during the year.
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “Restaurant Week is an exciting new initiative for Aberdeen and similar projects have already been very popular in cities around the world, helping to boost footfall numbers and increase spending.
“It offers a cost saving to customers on the food they enjoy, acting as an incentive for them to visit. It’s also an opportunity for participating restaurants to showcase their food and customer service levels.
“We want to hear from restaurants who would like to be involved in the first Aberdeen Restaurant Week so we can shine a spotlight on the city centre’s best eateries and help them get 2018 off to a bumper start.”
Julia Bryce, author of blog ‘Just Julia’ supports the initiative: “Aberdeen has an incredibly diverse and eclectic restaurant and bar offering. It’s home to some of the country’s best bars and boasts a number of award winning restaurants, and it’s exciting to see Aberdeen Inspired champion this, helping to further promote the food and drink sector.
“The North-east of Scotland is home to some of the finest food and drink producers, many of which local, independent restaurants use on a daily basis, so it’s great to see an initiative like Restaurant Week show off the outstanding establishments we have in the city.
“This initiative will not only outline the hard work and talent the hospitality and service industry boast, but it will also be a great opportunity for the region’s best chefs and bartenders to showcase their skills and their menus too. With such diversity in the city, there’s guaranteed to be something to suit all tastes. I’m really looking forward to seeing more restaurants sign up and get involved.”
Anitha Joseph, Director of Shri Bheema’s on Belmont Street said: ”Shri Bheema’s is delighted to be part of this event, which celebrates and showcases the culinary experiences within Aberdeen City Centre. As a long standing, independent restaurant, offering authentic North & South Indian cuisine, our multi award-winning business also supports local industries by procuring over 40% of our products from Scottish produce. We look forward to the additional visibility that Aberdeen Restaurant Week will provide and welcoming new customers to Shri Bheema’s both during this event and in the months beyond.”
